Services

Find and offer services in Panama.

In Panama a roof leak tends to announce itself in May, when the first heavy rains of the wet season find the crack that the dry months hid. Roof repair and waterproofing sit alongside the plumber you need by tomorrow, the deep clean before a rental changes hands and the tutor for the school term, offered by independents and companies who quote you directly. Some of them also pass on the materials or the second-hand equipment of their trade. Away from the capital, distance shapes every quote: a crew based in the city charges for the drive out to a beach house in Coronado or a farm near Penonomé.

Roofers, plumbers, cleaners and tutors in Panama:

work that gets hired in very different ways. A roofer or waterproofer comes to look before quoting, because a concrete slab and a zinc roof fail differently. A plumber, electrician or painter on a small repair works more like a handyman and often prices the visit. House cleaning is booked by the day, or as a one-off deep clean after a move. Movers quote by the truck and the helpers, and tutors by the hour, at your table or online. If you want someone on the staff rather than for a single job, the vacancy belongs in Jobs.

Concrete slab or zinc sheet, and what else changes a quote:

the roof decides who you call. A flat slab needs a waterproofing system, and the one named on the quote, an acrylic coating, a torch-on asphalt sheet or a TPO membrane, sets both the price and how long it lasts. A zinc roof leaks mostly where screws have rusted around their washers or where sheets overlap, so resealing is often the real job, and a quote to replace every sheet deserves a second opinion. Whatever the trade, compare quotes on the same basis, per square metre, per visit, per day or per hour, and check whether materials are inside the figure.

Waterproofing a slab roof, and why the dry season is the time to book it:

the work is priced by the square metre, from about $8 to $25 depending on the system and how much repair the slab needs first, so a 100 m² roof lands somewhere between $800 and $2,500. Book it between mid-December and April, while the surface is dry enough to take a coating; once the rains settle in from May, the job competes with every other leak in the district. Travel is the line that moves most on any quote: a city crew going out to Santiago adds the drive, so ask for it as a separate figure.

Judging a roofer, a cleaner or a mover before the work starts:

past jobs tell you more than a logo. Ask for photos of finished work like yours, and if a roofer did a slab nearby, ask to see it after a downpour. A written quote should name the materials and quantities, say who buys them, and state what happens if the slab needs repair under the old coating. Be wary of a firm price given over the phone for a roof nobody has climbed onto. With a cleaner, agree the rooms, the hours and whether products come with them; a mover should tell you the truck size before the day, not on arrival. When a provider parts with a used pressure washer, run it and check the hose and gun for leaks before paying, and look for heavier kit in Business and Industry.

A listing for your trade, from the pricing basis to the towns you reach:

say what the job includes and what it does not, such as “slab cleaned and two coats applied, cracks repaired at extra cost”, and how you charge, so a client can line you up against another quote. Name the towns you actually cover, Aguadulce and Penonomé, or the beach strip from Gorgona to San Carlos, and what you add for getting there. Your own before-and-after photos beat any stock image, and for a roofer the one people want is the dry ceiling after rain. Gardeners can send clients to Garden and Outdoor for plants and tools. If you look after empty beach houses, say whether you send photos after each visit and whether you work Saturdays, because many owners only reach the house at the weekend.
